Why I Publish Articles on My Own Site
tamilabo keeps production notes in a place it can manage, instead of relying only on external platforms. The site is also where personal context lives in the age of AI.
tamilabo will publish not only game-specific development notes, but also articles about independent development, technology, and the production environment on this site.
External publishing platforms are useful places to meet readers and distribute articles easily. At the same time, changes to a platform, its policies, or its presentation can affect how those articles are managed.
The canonical version stays on tamilabo.com. External services are how readers find it.
Keeping the content under my control
Articles on this site are stored as Markdown files in a Git repository.
The writing, publication dates, classifications, and translation relationships remain available even if a particular publishing platform disappears. A common file format also makes future migrations easier.
Stocking personal context in the age of AI
When AI is part of the production workflow, reasons for decisions, assumptions that were tested, and things that did not work tend to scatter across conversations. Relying on chat history alone means that context can disappear when a service or model changes.
Writing it down on my own site means future me, and AI tools that can read it, share the same record. A public article explains the work to readers, and it is also a record of what I thought and chose.
Markdown and Git keep that context traceable, revision history included. When I hand material to AI, I can start from a record that is already sorted, instead of explaining it from scratch every time.
Recording work beyond individual games
Alongside Devlogs, Concept Notes, and Research Notes, the Notes archive includes General Notes that do not belong directly to one game.
They may cover independent game development, website operation, technical choices, production tools, or reflections on earlier work.
Using external platforms as entry points
Reaching readers through an independent site alone is not easy. X, YouTube, and external publishing platforms will still be used when they fit the content and purpose.
The same article is not kept as a separate original in several places. Posts should lead back to the original here. tamilabo keeps the content, and still uses the reach of external services.
