Why We Publish Articles on Our Own Site
How tamilabo keeps its production notes under its own control while still using external platforms to reach readers.
tamilabo will publish not only game-specific development notes, but also articles about independent development, technology, and the production environment on this site.
External publishing platforms are useful places to meet readers and distribute articles easily. At the same time, changes to a platform, its policies, or its presentation can affect how those articles are managed.
Our approach is to keep the canonical version on tamilabo.com and use external services as ways for readers to discover it.
Keeping the content under our control
Articles on this site are stored as Markdown files in a Git repository.
The writing, publication dates, classifications, and translation relationships remain available even if a particular publishing platform disappears. A common file format also makes future migrations easier.
Recording work beyond individual games
Alongside Devlogs, Concept Notes, and Research Notes, the Notes archive includes Articles that do not belong directly to one game.
They may cover independent game development, website operation, technical choices, production tools, or reflections on earlier work.
Using external platforms as entry points
Reaching readers through an independent site alone is not easy. X, YouTube, and external publishing platforms will still be used when they fit the content and purpose.
Rather than maintaining separate canonical copies in multiple places, those posts should normally lead back to the original article here. This allows tamilabo to retain the content while benefiting from the reach of external services.
